Burger Shift: Team Rush Who stands where
1, 2, 4, and 8 player coverage tables, Trainee versus Manager, and the right tile for an NPC employee.
A Burger Shift: Team Rush lobby fails in the menu, not on the grill. If three people all walk to the flat-top, the drinks, the dumpster, and the drive-thru are already dead. This planner is the seating chart for 1–8 player online or LAN crews. Say the jobs in voice chat before anyone customizes a hat.
Use it with the role tier list and the co-op guide. The tier list is which jobs leak first. Co-op is how you talk. This page is who occupies the tile. Crew roles names the same jobs in player language if your friends do not read tables.
How to read the tables
Coverage is ownership, not a fence. A grill main can plate one burger. A window main can grab a soda. What you cannot do is leave a named station with zero bodies for a full patience bar. Dumpster Duty bins still fill to 100% and block. Burger Flow still lets you unwrap a mistake, which is useless if nobody is looking at the ticket.
Early Access from 11 September 2026 adds fryer baskets, ice cream, a window lane, and NPC employees. Prologue crews that never left the dining room should add those columns the first time they host the paid build. Until you hire, treat the NPC column as empty.
1 player
You are the restaurant. Loop in this order: start the patty, build whatever is already cooked, pour the drink that is on the ticket, check dining and bins, then return to the grill. Do not chase a single soda across the room while meat burns. Trainee is the honest solo mode because patience is doubled. Manager solo is a drill, not a plan.
| Station | Solo coverage |
|---|---|
| Grill / flat-top | You. Drop patties first, then leave only while they cook. |
| Assembly / wrap | You, between flips. Hover the receipt before you wrap. |
| Drinks | You, only when a ticket names soda or coffee. |
| Fryer / ice cream | You, only when a ticket names them. Never start a basket if the grill is empty. |
| Dining / trash | Between tickets, not during a flip. Empty bins before 100%. |
| Drive-thru | Window after the bag is built. Do not wait at the glass with nothing in hand. |
| NPC (if hired) | Dining restock and trash. Never grill. |
2 players
Split food from everything else. Player A owns heat. Player B owns tickets, drinks, window, and talking. If both of you assemble, drinks die. If both of you pour, patties die.
| Station | Player A | Player B |
|---|---|---|
| Grill / flat-top | Main | Emergency only |
| Assembly / wrap | Helps during cook time | Main |
| Drinks | No | Main |
| Fryer / ice cream | Basket drops if adjacent | Owns plating |
| Dining / trash | No | Between window tickets |
| Drive-thru | No | Window and bags |
| NPC (if hired) | — | Dining restock and bins so B can stay on drinks |
Voice: call extras (no pickle, extra onion), not station names. B already knows they are on assembly.
4 players
This is the first size that can hold Early Access extras without collapsing on Manager. Lock four lanes and stop floating until a bin alarm.
| Station | Owner |
|---|---|
| Grill / flat-top | Player 1 |
| Assembly / wrap | Player 2 |
| Drinks + ice cream | Player 3 |
| Dining, trash, drive-thru | Player 4 |
| Fryer | Player 1 drops baskets if the fryer sits next to grill; Player 3 plates. If fryer is far, Player 4 takes baskets and Player 3 stays on cups. |
| NPC (if hired) | Restock + dining wipe so Player 4 can live at the window |
If you only have three humans, delete ice cream from Player 3 and give that player drinks only. The missing human is dining, which is exactly where an NPC belongs.
8 players
Eight bodies should mean no hero plays. Duplicate the dangerous jobs instead of creating a mascot who “helps everywhere.”
| Job | Count | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Grill | 1–2 | Second grill is backup and fryer baskets, not a second expo. |
| Assembly | 1 | Hands on the board. |
| Wrap / expo | 1 | Unwrap checks, bags, ticket calls. |
| Drinks | 1 | Soda, ice, coffee. |
| Ice cream | 1 | Soft-serve is its own queue in Early Access. |
| Drive-thru | 1 | Window only. Does not leave for lettuce. |
| Dining + trash | 1 | Bins, trays, table turn. |
| Floater | 1 | Covers the first alarm: empty fryer, full dumpster, missing bun stack. |
| NPC (if hired) | 1 | Ingredient restock so the floater is not a walker. |
If you do not hire, the floater is the restock. Do not steal the window player for tomatoes.
Trainee versus Manager
Dumpster Duty retuned difficulty. The planner changes with it.
| Setting | Traffic | Coverage change |
|---|---|---|
| Trainee | Patience doubled | 1P and 2P can float. Learn unwrap and bins here. |
| Supervisor | About +10% customers | Lock drinks or dining onto a body. Stop sharing both. |
| Manager | About +35% customers | Trash, window, and drinks each need an owner. 4P is the floor if fryer and drive-thru are both on. |
Raise difficulty for money, not for pride. Faster service still pays extra tips, but a full bin wipes that bonus. If your crew still merges stacks into the wrong ticket, stay on Trainee.
Where to park an NPC employee
Official copy says employees keep tables clean and ingredients stocked. Park them on walking jobs.
- Best: dining wipes, ingredient restock, Dumpster Duty bins.
- Acceptable: watching a far fridge so humans never leave the line.
- Do not: grill timing, wrap inspection, or drive-thru talk. Those need a player who can hover a receipt and unwrap a mistake.
Hiring is an Early Access promise, not a Prologue toggle. If the button is still locked in your build, run the tables as human-only and keep the NPC column as the first job you give a late joiner.
Pre-shift script
- Count players. Pick the table above.
- Assign names, not vibes. “Sam is window” beats “someone grab cars.”
- Set Trainee / Supervisor / Manager out loud.
- Point at the dumpster. If nobody answers, you do not have a plan.
- Open the recipe checklist for extras, then start the day.
If the rush still breaks, look at kitchen stations for layout and employees for hire cost versus a ninth human. Come back to this page only to change the seating chart, not to rewrite how a burger is built.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common kitchen questions.
What is the best 2-player split?
One player on grill, one on assembly, drinks, and the window. Hire an NPC for dining and trash if Early Access hiring is on. See the 2-player table above.
Where should I put an NPC employee?
Tables, restock, and bins. Store copy frames employees as cleaners and stockers, not as grill cooks.
When do we play Manager?
After unwrap, stack handling, and dumpsters are automatic, and after trash plus drinks have owners. Manager adds about 35% more customers.
How do eight players avoid crowding the grill?
Duplicate only backup heat. Give dedicated drinks, ice cream, wrap/expo, dining, window, and a floater. Read the 8-player table and crew roles.
What should I read with this planner?
The role tier list for job value, the co-op guide for callouts, and employees if you can hire.
